Spermaceti is a waxy substance found in the head of sperm whales. Traditionally, it was used to make candles and in cosmetics, but nowadays synthetic alternatives are more common due to environmental and ethical concerns. Due to its origins in whaling, spermaceti has been largely replaced by synthetic alternatives such as jojoba esters and cetyl esters wax, which can be used in the same applications.
