Rice bran wax is extracted from the inedible husk surrounding the rice grain. Once the oil is extracted and hydrogenated, it is transformed into wax. Rice bran wax appears as a waxy solid, cream-colored, ranging from off-white to yellow-orange. Major properties are : emollient, exfoliant, film-forming, thickening and hardening agent.
Major applications are in cosmetic and pharmaceutical preparations as well as on food industry for coating candies.
